I’m trying to configure a Hexnode Access policy so users can authenticate with Google before accessing their device. We use Google Workspace Starter Edition. Is Google authentication supported for Hexnode Access, and what is the recommended way to set it up?

Yes, Google Workspace Starter Edition is supported with Hexnode Access.

For Google authentication in a Hexnode Access policy, you can use either of the following approaches:

1. Google Workspace Sync

If your Google Workspace domain is already integrated with Hexnode, you can use the domains available under Admin > Google Workspace in the Hexnode UEM portal.

While configuring authentication in the Access policy:

  • Select one or more Google Workspace domains from the Domains drop-down.
  • Enable Allow access for all users if every user group from the selected domain should be allowed to authenticate.
  • Use Allow access only for if only specific user groups should be allowed device access.

2. Google Cloud App Registration

You can also create OAuth credentials in Google Cloud Console and use that app registration for authentication. This is useful if you want to configure a dedicated OAuth-based authentication flow between Google and Hexnode Access.

Both methods can be used for setting up Google authentication with Hexnode Access. If your Google Workspace domain is already synced with Hexnode, the Workspace Sync method is usually simpler. If you prefer a dedicated OAuth setup, use Google Cloud App Registration.
