Hey folks,
Trying to push an app configuration for the Gmail app via Hexnode. The Workspace account which we are using actually gets pushed down fine, but after entering the password, it throws this error “Unable to connect to the server. Try again.”

Anyone else seen this before?

Yep, ran into that a few weeks back. Try adding a hostname in the configuration.
You can test with m.google.com or mail.google.com. Or, even leave it blank and see if that helps.

I did try all three, no luck. The error changes to “Account not ready yet.”

Wow, glad it’s not just me losing my mind over this one. I have tried pushing the same configuration through Outlook, it pushes the account, but after logging in, I get a “Something went wrong” message.

So might be the same issue underneath.

What if you use imap.gmail.com as the hostname? That’s the standard IMAP endpoint, worth a shot.

Tried that too. Still ends up with an error after entering the password.

Funny timing! I just tested manually adding a Gmail account on my device and it failed in exact same way.

Pretty sure this ties back to Google phasing out “Less Secure App Access.”
They have moved everything to OAuth/SSO, so plain username + password setups no longer work.

That makes a lot of sense now. Appreciate you testing that out! Sounds like we will just have to wait for an update from Google.
