Delete user option not visible when swapping an employee to a new iPadSolved

Hi everyone. I’m currently replacing an employee’s old iPad with a newer one in Hexnode. I know I need to move the employee over to the new iPad, but I also want to clean up our portal by removing an old user entry from the Users section.

I tried clicking into the user’s record and opening the Actions menu from their details page, but I couldn’t find the delete option anywhere. Is there a specific place where “Delete user” is hidden, or do I need to do something else first before the option appears?

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

It is very common to miss this option! The reason you cannot find the delete action is likely because you are looking inside the individual user’s details page. The Delete user(s) option is actually located in the bulk actions menu on the main Users list view.

Here is the exact workflow to successfully delete a user:

  1. Navigate to Manage > Users.
  2. Do not click on the user’s name. Instead, check the box directly to the left of the user you want to remove.
  3. Click the Actions dropdown menu at the top of the list.
  4. Navigate to Edit > Delete user(s). (Tip: If you do not immediately see it, you can use the search field located inside the Actions dropdown and type “delete”).
  5. If the user still has devices associated with them, you will be prompted to choose an outcome for those devices:
    1. Disenroll device: This will completely remove Hexnode management, policies, and apps from the old device.
    2. Assign to a new user: This reassigns the device and applies the relevant configurations for the new user.

For your specific scenario of swapping an iPad, the cleanest order of operations is to first disenroll the old iPad (which frees up the license seat), enroll the new iPad, assign it to the active employee, and then follow the steps above to delete the old user entry.

I hope this helps. If you find any more issues or need further assistance feel free to reach out.
