Can users change Bluetooth settings on an iPad in Website Kiosk mode?Solved

Hi, we have iPads locked down with a Hexnode kiosk policy and the main app is a web app. Users occasionally need to pair or change Bluetooth devices while the iPad is in kiosk mode. Is there a way to allow Bluetooth settings or Control Center access without leaving the web app kiosk setup?

Hi @remy,

For iPads running Web App Kiosk mode, users cannot be allowed to modify Bluetooth settings directly from the kiosk session. On iOS/iPadOS, Bluetooth control through Hexnode kiosk peripheral settings is not available for Web App Kiosk mode. Control Center access also cannot be enabled separately while keeping the device locked only to the web app in Website Kiosk mode.

The available workaround is to use Multi-App Kiosk mode instead:

  1. Create or edit the iOS kiosk policy.
  2. Configure the device in Multi-App Kiosk mode.
  3. Add the required web app to the kiosk policy.
  4. Allow access to the required system apps or controls needed for Bluetooth changes, such as Settings or Control Center access where applicable.

Keep in mind that Multi-App Kiosk is less restrictive than Website Kiosk mode. Users may be able to access additional apps or system areas that are allowed in the Multi-App Kiosk configuration.

We ran into the same limitation with iPads used for a browser-based workflow. We ended up pre-pairing the Bluetooth accessories before enabling kiosk mode. For sites where users need to switch accessories often, Multi-App Kiosk was the only workable setup.
