Hi folks! I manage a bunch of ChromeOS devices in my organization, and I’d like to block some permissions for certain apps. Is there a way to do this in bulk with Hexnode?

Hi @wilma ! Yes, Hexnode does support blocking permissions for apps from the Chrome Web Store. Let me walk you through how you can set it up:

  1. Log in to your Hexnode UEM portal and create a new policy.
  2. Choose ChromeOS > App Management > Required Apps and click Configure.
  3. Click +Add > Add App > Chrome Web Store, enter the App/Extension ID, and click Add.
  4. After adding the app, configure its permissions by clicking Configure next to the app. Choose the Restriction type as Block permissions and select the permissions to be blocked.
  5. Once the apps are selected and configured, click Save to add them.
  6. Finally, associate the policy with the targeted OUs.

Thanks @isabel_lora , that helps a lot! Just to clarify, do I need to add the app under Required Apps for the permissions to be blocked? Or can I block permissions for apps even if they’re not added as required?

Good question, @wilma ! Yes, the app needs to be added under Required Apps to configure its permissions, since Hexnode applies permission rules only to apps listed there.
