Hi everyone. We manage refurbished Android devices and some end up stuck at the Google Factory Reset Protection (FRP) screen after a wipe. Can FRP be disabled or bypassed directly from the Hexnode console, or does this require the Samsung Knox portal? Also, what is the exact difference between “Disabling FRP” and “Bypassing FRP” in the policy settings?

Yes, FRP settings can be configured directly from the Hexnode console under Android > Advanced Restrictions > Factory Reset Protection without needing the Samsung Knox portal.
Here is the operational difference between the two options:
- Disable Factory Reset Protection: Bypasses Google account verification entirely after a reset, allowing the user to tap “SKIP” on the setup screen without entering the previously synced Google credentials.
- Bypass Factory Reset Protection: Keeps Google account verification active after a reset, but allows you to unlock the device using pre-configured Google Workspace emails or 21-digit Google Account IDs defined in the policy instead of requiring the original account.
Crucial Requirement: The FRP policy must be associated and successfully applied to the device before performing the factory reset. If a device has already been reset and is currently sitting at the FRP screen, a newly created Hexnode policy cannot reach it.
