Is it possible to enroll an Android device into Hexnode UEM without doing a factory reset? I’ve heard some MDM providers allow enrollment through USB debugging, so the device data isn’t wiped.

Hey @nevaeh

Yes, that’s called ADB enrollment, and Hexnode UEM supports it. With ADB enrollment, you can set the device as a Device Owner using USB debugging without requiring a factory reset at the time of enrollment. However, this applies only to a device that has not been managed before. For detailed guidance refer to our guide on ADB Command Line Enrollment

I tried disenrolling my device after ADB enrollment, and I saw a message in my device asking me to do factory reset. Is that normal? Why does it happen?

Yes, that’s expected behavior when a device is enrolled via ADB in Device Owner modeTo fully release the device from this mode and regain complete control, a factory reset is required after disenrollment. This ensures the device is properly restored to its normal state.
