Does Hexnode Remote Wipe remove the Windows OS?Solved

I’m trying to understand what happens when using the remote wipe action on a Windows device from Hexnode UEM. Does it only remove local files and user data, or does it also remove Windows so the OS has to be installed again afterward?

Ideally, I want to reset the device without deleting the operating system if that’s possible.

Hello @raelynn ,

A remote wipe on a Windows device should be treated as a full wipe/factory reset action, not as a data-only cleanup.

When initiated from Hexnode UEM, the wipe clears local data, files, apps, and configurations and returns the device to its initial setup state. After the wipe completes, the device may need Windows to be set up or reinstalled again using the device’s recovery options, cloud/BIOS recovery, or bootable installation media, depending on the device and recovery environment.

If your goal is to reset the device while preserving the Windows installation, Hexnode UEM’s remote  wipe is not the right action. That type of reset would need to be performed locally from the Windows settings on the device itself.
