Report Android devices without Remote Control Accessibility permission enabledSolved

we deploy these devices as unmanned kiosks and realized the policy status alone will not be enough to identify those devices. At the moment, checking the remote access management policy just confirms it was pushed. It does not confirm if the Accessibility permission was actually granted on the device.

Currently, Hexnode does not provide a built-in report that lists Android devices based on whether the Remote Control Accessibility permission has been enabled.

Policy Verification vs. Permission Status 

As @bram pointed out, you can verify whether the unattended remote access configuration is applied to a device by opening the device in the Hexnode UEM portal. From the Device Summary page, check the associated policies under the Policies sub-tab. If the associated remote access management policy is listed there, it confirms that the configuration has been deployed.

However, this only confirms that the remote access policy is configured. It does not confirm whether the user manually enabled the Accessibility permission on the device end. For unattended remote control on Android, the Accessibility permission must be enabled once on the device during the initial setup. Otherwise, remote control may not work until someone manually grants the permission locally.

Current Practical Limitations 

• Policy Tracking: Hexnode can show whether the unattended remote access policy is associated with the device.
• State Reporting: Hexnode cannot currently report the actual Android Accessibility permission state for remote control.
• Manual Intervention: Devices where the permission was not enabled once will still require manual action on the device before unattended remote control can work.

Because Hexnode cannot generate a fleet-wide list of Android devices where the Remote Control Accessibility permission is missing, this would need to be handled as a product enhancement.

I have passed this feedback along to our product team so they can review it for future reporting capabilities.
