Location history missing for an inactive deviceSolved

One of our managed devices has been inactive for around 4 months. When I checked the Location History section in Hexnode, there was no location data visible anymore. Is there any way to find the last known location of an offline device after this long?

Hello @haniel ,

Hexnode stores device location history for a maximum of 90 days. If a device has been inactive for around 4 months, the previously recorded location entries would no longer be available in the console due to the location data retention limit.

Also, since the device is offline, Hexnode cannot request a new real-time location update from it. Location updates require the device to communicate with Hexnode servers.

So even the last known location before it went offline cannot be recovered if it is older than 90 days?

Correct. Once the location history has passed the 90-day retention period, it is automatically cleared and cannot be retrieved from the Hexnode console.

If the device comes back online later and location tracking is still enabled, Hexnode can receive new location updates from that point onward. However, older location data that has already expired cannot be restored.
