We’re rolling out a mix of Android tablets and Windows laptops for our storefronts. I need to disable the hardware buttons on tablets so customers can’t power them off or change the volume. Can I enforce these rules centrally?

Hello @akemi ,

Maintaining the integrity of a retail kiosk requires a combination of strict peripheral rules and proactive management tools. By configuring these settings within your policy, you can ensure your devices remain operational and resilient against tampering.

To optimize your retail environment, you can implement the following strategies:

  • Enforce Peripheral Restrictions: For your Android and Windows deployments, you can utilize security rules to disable hardware buttons, manage screen timeouts, and restrict network toggles. This ensures the devices remain in a dedicated state and prevents users from interrupting the intended workflow.
  • Support Silent Background Processes: For complex retail setups, such as those requiring receipt printing or secondary services, you can configure background applications. This allows essential services to run effectively without cluttering the user interface.

Okay got it, but what if there is a issue with one of the device which is being somewhere else. How can I resolve it from my place, I mean remote troubleshooting?

To address maintenance concerns, you can utilize remote view and control features to troubleshoot technical issues or check device status in real-time right from your central console, eliminating the need for on-site visits. While Hexnode UEM enables administrators to fully view and take control of kiosk screens across Android, ChromeOS, Linux, and Windows devices, its capabilities for iOS are limited to screensharing only.
