Hi folks, is there a way to configure Hexnode so that personal BYOD devices enrolled in the portal cannot be remotely wiped? We want to make sure only corporate‑owned devices can be factory reset.

From what I’ve seen, the wipe action in Hexnode does a full factory reset on any enrolled device. For BYOD, though, you usually just remove the work profile instead of wiping the whole device.

Hello everyone, thanks for raising this.

At present, Hexnode UEM does not provide a direct setting to block the wipe action specifically for personal devices. The Wipe device option is designed to perform a complete factory reset, which is generally intended for corporate‑owned devices.

For BYOD scenarios, the recommended approach is to remove the work profile (on Android) or unenroll the device (on iOS). This ensures that corporate data is removed without affecting the user’s personal data. You can also remove the associated policies and ensure that it triggers the automatic removal of all corporate apps.

In practice, use Wipe device action for corporate owned devices when you need a full reset. For BYOD devices, rely on work profile removal, unenrollment, or other corporate data removal methods to protect personal data.
