Change Super admin?Solved

Hello there,

I’ve been managing our company’s Hexnode UEM portal, and I’ll be leaving the company soon. I want to transfer my Super Admin role to my successor or make them the new Super Admin.

I’ve seen a few older forums mentioning that the process requires contacting Hexnode support. Those posts are a few years old, so I just wanted to check if there’s now an easier way to do this directly through the Hexnode portal.

Hey @finn,

Thank you for reaching out.

Yes, this has been updated recently. You can now create a new Super Admin or promote an existing admin to Super Admin directly from the Hexnode UEM portal.

To make a new technician the Super Admin:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Technicians and Roles.
  2. Click the more icon next to the current Super Admin’s name and select Change Super Admin.
  3. Enter the required details for the new technician and click Save.
  4. The current Super Admin must authenticate with their password to confirm the change.

The existing Super Admin will retain their role until the invitation is accepted. Once the new technician accepts the email invitation, the current Super Admin will be logged out and automatically downgraded to Admin at their next login.

To promote an existing admin to Super Admin:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Technicians and Roles.
  2. Click the more icon next to the admin you want to promote and select Upgrade to Super Admin.
  3. Click Continue and authenticate with your password.

Once the process is complete, the current Super Admin will be downgraded to Admin, as only one Super Admin can exist at a time. The session will automatically log out to apply the role change, and after logging back in, the updated roles will take effect.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers,

Didn’t have much hope when I asked, but glad you guys actually added this. The last thing I wanted was to be stuck in support calls right before leaving. Thanks a lot.
