Hi, I tried resetting a Windows user’s system password from Hexnode, but the new password did not work on the device. I may have used the wrong option in the portal. What is the correct way to reset a local account password on a Windows device from Hexnode?

Hi @raelynn,

For Windows devices, local account passwords can be changed from the device’s Local accounts section in Hexnode. Try the following steps:

  1. Go to Manage in the Hexnode portal and select the Windows device.
  2. Open the Local accounts tab and find the required local user account.
  3. Click the three-dot menu next to the account and select Change Password.
  4. Enter and confirm the new password.
  5. Save or execute the action.

After the action completes successfully, use the new password to sign in to that local account on the Windows device.

This helped me too. The important part is selecting the actual local account under the device’s Local accounts section before changing the password. Resetting it from another area may not apply to the intended Windows local user.
