I’m cleaning up old devices in hexnode that no longer exist. i tried to disenroll them first, but when i attempt to delete them, hexnode still shows them as enrolled and won’t remove them. some of these devices are offline and haven’t checked in for a long time. what’s the correct way to fully remove them from the portal?

Hey @mees, if the devices are dead or no longer communicating, the normal disenrollment action won’t complete. They move into a pending state instead of being fully removed.

Since you already tried the standard disenroll action from manage > actions > device control > Disenroll device, here is how you force clear those offline ones:

  • Go to Reports > device > disenrollment pending devices.
  • select the devices you want to clear out.
  • click mark as disenrolled.

Two things to watch out for: first, if the device ever powers on and comes back online, it will still have the old mdm restrictions physically on the device since it never received the command to remove them. You’ll likely need to factory reset it if it turns up. Second, if you added these as pre-approved devices, you’ll want to delete them from the pre-approved devices list too as a separate cleanup step.
