Remove an offline Android device stuck at Disenrollment initiatedSolved

I have an Android device in Hexnode that is faulty and cannot be powered on anymore. When I try to disenroll it, the status just stays at “Disenrollment initiated” and nothing else happens. Is there a way to remove or disenroll a device when it is offline? I also want to delete it afterward and make sure it no longer consumes a license.

Yes. If the device is offline and cannot receive the disenrollment command, you can manually mark it as disenrolled from the Disenrollment Pending Devices report.

Use the following steps:

  1. Go to Reports.

  2. Open Device Reports.

  3. Select Disenrollment Pending Devices.

  4. Choose the offline device or devices stuck in the Disenrollment Initiated state.

  5. Click Actions.

  6. Select Mark as Disenrolled.

After the device is marked as disenrolled, you can delete the device record from the portal if it is no longer needed.

That worked for me. The device moved out of the pending state after using Mark as Disenrolled from the report. as well?

Yes. Once the device is marked as disenrolled, the license associated with that device is freed up. Deleting the device record afterward removes it from the portal view, but the key step for freeing the license is marking the device as disenrolled. This workflow is useful for devices that are lost, damaged, factory reset outside management, or permanently offline and unable to receive the normal disenrollment command.
