iPad stuck on “trying to add” in Apple Configurator for Apple Business ManagerSolved

I’m trying to add two new iPads to Apple Business Manager so they can be enrolled through Automated Device Enrollment. I’m using Apple Configurator on an iPad, and it just keeps spinning with the message “trying to add”.

The same iPad with Apple Configurator worked earlier when I added several iPhones, so I assumed the setup was fine. I also tried a different network and even another iPad with Apple Configurator installed, but both new iPads show the same behavior.

Hi @sybylla,

This behavior is expected due to Apple’s platform requirements for Apple Configurator.

Apple Configurator on an iPad may work for adding iPhones to Apple Business, but an iPad cannot be used as the source device to add another iPad.

To add an iPad to Apple Business, use one of the supported methods:

  1. An iPhone running Apple Configurator.
  2. A Mac running Apple Configurator 2.

Once the iPad is added to Apple Business, you can assign it to the Hexnode server and continue with the Automated Device Enrollment workflow as usual.
