iOS devices in Apple Business not enrolling in HexnodeSolved

We’re setting up Hexnode for a small iPhone fleet and have Apple Business ready. I’m a bit stuck on the correct order of steps. Do the iPhones need to be added to Apple Business first before enrolling them into Hexnode?

Some of these are existing field devices, so I’m also trying to understand whether they need to be reset for supervised management. After getting access to the portal, I tried enrolling but the devices were not showing up as expected in Hexnode.

Hello @haanaa ,

For Automated Device Enrollment on iOS, the devices must first be available in Apple Business and assigned to the Hexnode MDM server.

The recommended flow is:

  1. Add or confirm the devices in Apple Business.
  2. Assign the devices to the MDM server created for Hexnode.
  3. In Hexnode UEM, configure Apple Automated Device Enrollment by uploading the server token from Apple Business.
  4. Sync the ADE/DEP devices in Hexnode UEM.
  5. Create and assign an iOS enrollment profile to those devices.
  6. Start the device setup process. For existing devices, a factory reset is required for Automated Device Enrollment to take effect.

If the device is already in use and you do not want to reset it, you can enroll it using user enrollment or profile-based enrollment, but that will be unsupervised and will not support the same level of restrictions as ABM/ADE-supervised enrollment.
