How to handle a temporary extra technician when the Hexnode technician limit is reachedSolved

Hi everyone. Our Hexnode portal is limited to 4 technicians. One technician will be unavailable for a few weeks, and we need another person to cover during that period.

Is there a way to temporarily add a 5th technician for about 3 weeks, or should we remove/edit one of the existing technicians to free up a slot? We want to avoid sharing credentials, and we do not need all 5 people using the portal at the same time permanently.

Since you only need 4 technicians to have active access at a time and want to avoid sharing credentials, you have two practical options to handle this without purchasing an additional technician license slot:

Option 1: Delete and Re-add (Recommended for a cleaner workflow)

  1. Go to Admin > Technicians in the Hexnode portal.
  2. Delete the account of the unavailable technician. This immediately frees up one technician slot.
  3. Add the covering technician as a new account.

Once the original technician returns, simply delete the temporary account and re-add the original one.

Option 2: Edit the Existing Profile

Alternatively, you can edit the unavailable technician’s profile and update the name and email address to the covering technician’s details. You can then trigger a password reset so the covering person can log in with their own credentials. If you use this approach, just make sure to restore the original email and role when the primary technician returns.

(Note: If you ever find that you need all 5 technicians to access the portal at the same time, you would need to reach out to our subscription/account team to add an additional technician license slot, as short-term slots are generally not available).
