Hi @amelia-smith,
Hexnode does not provide a direct standard Android policy option to disable Wi-Fi scanning while keeping GPS enabled. However, for supported Samsung Knox devices like yours, this can be configured using Samsung Knox OEMConfig through the Knox Service Plugin (KSP).
Here is the general workflow to set that up:
- Add the App: Go to Apps > Add Apps > Managed Google Play Apps. Search for Knox Service Plugin and click on Select to add it to the managed apps.
- Deploy the App: Go to Policies > Android > App Management > Required Apps and add the Knox Service Plugin as a required app.
- Configure the App: Go to Policies > Android > App Management > App Configuration and select Knox Service Plugin. Enter your Samsung Knox license key if prompted, enable the device policy controls/restrictions, find the Allow Wi-Fi Scanning option, and disable it.
(Note: Samsung currently provides Knox commercial license keys for supported use cases at no additional cost).
Important: This method requires Hexnode App Configuration support. If App Configuration is not available in your Hexnode plan, Wi-Fi scanning cannot be disabled through Knox OEMConfig from the console.
Please let me know if you have any questions about setting up this workflow!
Cheers,
Eden Pierce
