For Android apps that are not available in the public Google Play Store, the recommended approach is to upload the app’s APK file to the Hexnode app inventory as an enterprise app and then deploy it to the required devices.
A generic download URL alone is usually not enough for managed deployment unless you can use it to obtain the actual APK file. You can follow this workflow:
- Get the APK file from the app vendor or developer.
- In the Hexnode portal, go to the app inventory and add the APK as an enterprise app.
- Assign the app to the target Android devices or device groups.
- Deploy it using an app deployment policy or a remote app install action, depending on your setup.
Once the APK is added to Hexnode, it can be distributed to the managed Android tablets without publishing the app in the public Play Store.
