Android Play Store app not showing when adding it to a policySolved

Hi everyone. I am trying to add a specific Android app to a policy, but I cannot find it when searching under Local Apps or Public Store Apps directly from the policy configuration page. I know the app is available on the Google Play Store, but it simply does not appear in the search results inside the Hexnode policy. Is there a step I am missing before I can assign it to my devices?

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

This is a very common point of confusion. When you are configuring a policy, the search function only indexes applications that have already been added to your Hexnode app repository. It does not search the live Google Play Store directly from within the policy editor.

To resolve this and make the app available for your policy, you must first add it to your portal’s repository:

  1. Navigate to Apps > Add Apps > Store Apps from your main dashboard.
  2. Search for your required app from the public app store and add it to your Hexnode repository.
  3. Once added, go back into your policy configuration.
  4. Navigate to the app installation section (e.g., Required Apps or Kiosk) and search for the app again.

The app will now appear in your search results and can be successfully assigned to your policy.

I hope this helps. If you find any more issues or need further assistance feel free to reach out.

Best regards,
George,
