DAFS setup script fails on WindowsSolved

I’m trying to set up a DAFS server on a Windows Server 2019 machine. When I run the downloadable PowerShell script from the Hexnode portal, the setup fails with an error during the Docker-related step. It looks like the script tries to download/install something automatically, but then fails because it cannot find the installer file. Docker is not currently installed on this server. Do I need to install Docker first before running the DAFS setup script?

Hello @juan_garcia ,

The DAFS setup script requires Docker to be available on the Windows machine before the setup can complete successfully.

In this case, the failure occurs because Docker is either not installed or the Docker executable is not available in the system PATH. When the script attempts to handle the missing Docker dependency automatically, the installation step fails because the downloaded installer file cannot be located.

To resolve this:

  1. Install Docker on the Windows Server machine. Use a Docker version supported by your environment, such as Docker Desktop if applicable.
  2. After installation, confirm that Docker is available from PowerShell by running: docker –version.
  3. If the command is not recognized, add Docker to the system PATH or restart the server/session after installation.
  4. Once Docker is detected correctly, re-run the DAFS PowerShell setup script from the Hexnode UEM portal.

You can also deploy Docker remotely from the Hexnode UEM portal by selecting the device, using the Install application action, and choosing Docker Desktop if it is available in your app inventory.

I ran into something similar. Just installing Docker wasn’t enough until the session/server was restarted so the PATH update was picked up.
