Can’t find users for ChromeOS devices in Hexnode consoleSolved

Hello,

Let me tell you guys something first: we have Google Workspace integrated successfully, and we can see all the devices and users listed properly. But our team has encountered a scenario – the user field for a few ChromeOS devices shows up empty. This is a bit strange because the ChromeOS devices aren’t something we enroll in bulk, so they shouldn’t be missing a user.

Our team followed the steps in the Help doc exactly. What went wrong here?

Hey, I ran into this issue once and discussed it with the support team. Let me help.
Can you check and confirm something for me? In the google admin console, or if you have the specific device with you, check the user the device is assigned to and the domain they belong to.
Then, check in the Hexnode console if that specific domain is being synced from the admin tab.
This usually happens when the domains of users assigned to ChromeOS devices are not synced with hexnode. Since the user is not synced to Hexnode, the user field shows up as empty.
Just try adding the required domains to sync from google workspace settings under the admin tab in the Hexnode console, and you’re good to go. Simple as that!

Hello @pauel ,

Thanks for the information. I guess that helps, but we have an issue. The domains of the users to whom these devices are enrolled cannot be synced with our Hexnode console, as they belong to a different workforce. Are there any alternatives for changing these assigned users? Or do we have to go through the entire enrollment process once again?

Hey,
I don’t know about Hexnode though, but you can change the assigned user from the google admin console. After logging in to the admin console, go to the specific chrome device for which you want to change the assigned user. The user details will be in the custom fields section. You can click on edit, change the user to someone else, and click save. Then, in the Hexnode console, go to the Admin tab and sync Google Workspace. Make sure this time the new user belongs to a domain that can be synced with Hexnode. I think this will help.
