Hey @yu-yan,
Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the Hexnode community!
Based on your description, you are exactly right. The device is part of a Dynamic Device Group. Unlike custom groups where you manually add or remove devices, Dynamic Device Groups automatically populate based on specific criteria (like OS version, enrollment date, or platform). Because the membership is automated, you will not see a manual “remove” button next to individual devices.
However, you can easily exclude a specific device by adding an exception to the group rules. Here is how you can do that:
- First, find a unique identifier for the device you want to remove (the Device Name, Serial Number, or MAC address) and copy it.
- Navigate to the Manage tab and select the Device Groups section.
- Click on the Dynamic Device Group in question to open it.
- Go to the Criteria section and configure a rule under Add Exception.
- As an example, set it to: Device Info > Name > Is not > [Paste your Device Name]
- Click Save Group.
Once saved, the group will evaluate the new criteria, and that specific device will automatically be removed from the group (and subsequently, the policy will be removed from that device).
Let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions as you get settled into your new role!
Cheers,
Eden Pierce
