Is broadcast message possible on all devices? Does user need to permit from device end for messages to be displayed on the device?

Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us.

Hexnode enables the admin to broadcast messages from the Hexnode portal to Android, iOS and Windows 10 devices.

In the case of Android devices, the message will get displayed on the device if it is enrolled in Hexnode.
In iOS devices, the Hexnode app will get automatically installed on the device when it gets enrolled. You will have to open the app and allow Hexnode to show the notifications. Only then the messages sent by the admin will be displayed on the device screen.

For Windows devices, the Hexnode notifications app will get automatically installed on the device once it is enrolled. You will have to open the app and allow Hexnode to show the notifications for the messages to be received.

  • %imei%
  • %serialnumber%
  • %name%
  • %email%
  • %alternateemail%
  • %deviceid%
  • %domain%
  • %netbiosname%

  • %model%
  • %phonenumber%
  • %iccid%
  • %wifimacaddress%
  • %department%
  • %assettag%
  • %devicenotes%

Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us.

In case of devices enrolled as Profile Owner in Android Enterprise, the pop-up notifications will not be shown for broadcasted messages. To see the messages broadcasted by the admin, open the  Hexnode for Work app and go to the Messages section.

Yes, the broadcasted messages can be seen from the Hexnode MDM app:

  • Open the Hexnode app installed on the device.
  • Swipe from the left side of the screen and click on Messages.
  • The messages broadcasted by the admin will be shown. The unread messages will be shown as highlighted.

I broadcasted a message to my user Android device. However user says he has not received any pop-up displaying message. The device is in kiosk.

The broadcasted messages can be shown as pop-ups on the screens of Android devices:

  • Navigate to Policies-> Kiosk Lockdown-> Android Kiosk Lockdown-> Peripheral Settings-> Messenger.
  • Check View messages sent by admin.
  • Associate targets and save the policy.

Hello Eduardo,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

You can send messages from the Hexnode portal to your enrolled macOS devices that have the Hexnode MDM app. This app installs automatically after enrollment. Make sure to grant the Notification permissions for the app, if prompted, to receive the messages sent by the admin.
To broadcast a message,

  1. Go to Manage > Devices > choose the device(s) to which you want to send the message.
  2. Click Actions > Broadcast message.
  3. Type in a message and click on Send.

The messages are shown as a notification pop-up on the device. All messages can be accessed later using the Hexnode MDM app. The admin can see the sent messages in the Hexnode portal under the Action History sub-tab of an enrolled device.
