Allow blocked Android packages for Gallery and photo editing in Kiosk modeSolved

You can view the blocked packages from the device details page in Hexnode UEM:

1. Go to Manage.
2. Select the Android device.
3. Open the Applications sub-tab.
4. Check the Blocked Packages section.

To allow a blocked package to run while the device is in Android Kiosk mode, add the package to Hexnode first and then include it as a background app in the Kiosk policy:

1. Go to Apps.
2. Click Add Apps.
3. Choose Add App with Bundle ID.
4. Enter the package name/bundle ID of the blocked app.
5. Save the app.
6. Go to Policies and open the Android Kiosk policy applied to the device.
7. Navigate to Kiosk Lockdown > Android Kiosk Lockdown > Background Apps.
8. Click Configure.
9. Search for the package under Local Apps and add it.
10. Save and reapply the policy.

For your use case, add the Gallery and photo editing-related packages that are being blocked. Once they are added as Background Apps, the kiosk app should be able to launch or use them without the packages being blocked.

Do these apps need to be added as regular kiosk apps too, or is adding them under Background Apps enough? I don’t want users to see the Gallery as a separate app on the kiosk screen.

Adding them under Background Apps is the right approach if the Gallery or photo editor only needs to be called from within the allowed kiosk app.

Background Apps are allowed to run in the background or be invoked by the kiosk app, but they are not shown as separate apps in the kiosk launcher. If you add them as kiosk apps, users may be able to open them directly from the kiosk screen, depending on the kiosk configuration.
