Reports Manager role disabled for technician in HexnodeSolved

Hi everyone. I’m logged in as the Super Admin and trying to create a second technician who can view reports, mainly location history for iPads. However, the Reports Manager role shows up as disabled and I can’t assign it.

Is this a permissions issue, a hidden setting I am missing, or is the role tied to a specific Hexnode plan? For context, our portal is currently on the Pro plan.

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

The Reports Manager role being disabled is expected behavior for your current subscription. This is a plan limitation rather than a permissions issue or a hidden setting. While Super Admin privileges allow you to manage available technicians and roles, they do not unlock roles outside of your current subscription tier.

Here is how technician roles are structured across the plans:

  • Pro plan: The predefined Reports Manager role is not available.
  • Enterprise plan: The predefined Reports Manager role becomes available and can be assigned to technicians.
  • Ultimate plan: Unlocks the ability to create fully custom technician roles with granular permissions.

If you only need this predefined, reports-focused technician role, your portal will need to be on the Enterprise plan. Once the portal is moved to a qualifying plan, the Reports Manager role will immediately become selectable when adding or editing a technician, and no additional changes will be required on the iPads themselves.

I hope this clears up the confusion regarding the disabled role! Feel free to reach out if you have any more doubts or need further assistance.

Best regards,
George,
