Hello,
We are thrilled to introduce an exciting enhancement to the Execute Custom Script remote action for macOS, Windows, and Linux! Administrators can now effortlessly capture script outputs and store them directly into custom attributes.
Gathering dynamic device data just got a whole lot simpler. Instead of relying on manual checks or running separate logging tools to retrieve specific script results, you can now automatically map these outputs to device attributes and view them right from the Hexnode console.
To give you precise control over your script data, we’ve added the following capabilities:
- Store output in custom attribute: Enable this option to save your script’s output to a chosen custom attribute. Once the script executes, you can easily view the captured data by navigating to Device Info > Custom Attributes on the device details page.
- Select device attribute: Choose the specific custom attribute from the dropdown list where the output should be mapped. (Note: Custom attributes must first be configured under Admin > Custom Attributes (Devices)).
- Use regex pattern to filter output: Need only a specific piece of data? Apply a regular expression (regex) to extract exactly what you need. This ensures only the relevant string is saved to the custom attribute rather than the entire output log.
For more information, please refer to our help documentation. We can’t wait for you to experience this new level of scripting flexibility and automation. Please check it out and let us know your thoughts, share them right here in Hexnode Connect!
Best regards,
George
