One Windows device has the desktop background locked by a Hexnode policy. The user cannot change the wallpaper because the option is greyed out and says it is managed by the organization. The same wallpaper restriction is needed for other devices, but I need to allow wallpaper changes only on this one Windows device. Is there a way to remove the wallpaper restriction remotely from Hexnode for just a single device?

The wallpaper option is greyed out because the Windows wallpaper policy has the setting to prevent users from changing the wallpaper enabled. For a single Windows device, the recommended approach is to apply a separate policy or a separate device group configuration for that device:

  1. Create or modify a Windows policy intended only for the affected device.
  2. Go to the wallpaper-related configuration in the policy.
  3. Disable the option that prevents users from changing the wallpaper.
  4. Associate this modified policy only with the required device or a dedicated device group.
  5. Sync the device so the updated policy is applied.

Once the restriction is removed, the user should be able to change the wallpaper locally on the Windows device.

Note that if a wallpaper was already applied through a Hexnode policy, it cannot be directly removed or reverted from the portal. After allowing wallpaper changes, the wallpaper may need to be changed manually on the device.
