I’m managing Windows devices through Hexnode and want to stop users from installing any Google Chrome extensions. In the Chrome extension policy settings, I can see fields for allowed extensions and restricted extensions. If I leave the allowed list blank, will that block all Chrome extensions, or is there a specific value I should enter?

To block all Google Chrome extensions on Windows, do not rely on leaving the allowed list blank.
In the Chrome extension configuration, add a single asterisk (“*”) in the Restrict extensions field. The asterisk acts as a wildcard and blocks all Chrome extensions from being installed. After saving the policy, associate it with the required Windows devices or device groups and allow the policy to sync to the endpoints.
If the policy is already associated, refresh or sync the device and restart Chrome if needed for the browser policy to take effect.
