Can I export a flat CSV with device name and Chrome app version in Hexnode reports?Solved

Hi everyone. I’m trying to audit Chrome versions across our managed devices. What I need is a flat CSV export where each row has the device name and the installed Chrome version side by side, so I can easily sort by version and identify devices running older builds.

The built-in Application report shows Chrome versions, but the export is grouped by version blocks and isn’t easy to sort as one flat table. I also tried Custom Reports, but I don’t see a way to add both the device name and the app version as columns in the same report. Is there a native report format that supports this flat structure?

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

Currently, Hexnode does not provide a native report export that places the Device Name and Application Version as separate columns on the same row for all devices in a single, flat CSV.

To achieve your audit, you will need to rely on one of the following workarounds:

1. Built-in Application Report

This is the best method for getting a complete fleet inventory, though it requires some manual formatting after the export.

  • Navigate to Reports > Application and search for Chrome.
  • Open the Chrome entry and select Export > Device List > Export.
  • This export includes device details (like name and serial number) along with the app version, but because the output is grouped by version blocks, you will need to clean or restructure the CSV externally (e.g., in Excel) to sort the entire fleet globally.

2. Custom Reports

If you do not want to clean up a spreadsheet and already know exactly which older Chrome versions you are looking for, you can use Custom Reports.

  • You can filter devices based on a specific application name and version.
  • Note: This only works for checking one specific version at a time. The application version used in the filter cannot be added as a dynamic output column alongside the device name.

For now, exporting the Device List from the built-in Application report and restructuring it outside of Hexnode is the most practical way to get the sortable flat list you need.
