Remote control is not supported on Android TV devices due to Android TV platform limitations. On Android TV, Hexnode can be used for kiosk configuration, app deployment, and device management workflows, but interactive remote control of the TV screen is not available.
Remote View, however, should work for supported Android TV deployments. If Remote View only shows static images, fails to update, or does not connect reliably, the most common cause is network restriction.
Check the following:
1. Ensure the device has an active internet connection.
2. Confirm that the kiosk app or deployed app works directly on the TV.
3. Verify that the network firewall, proxy, or security gateway is not blocking Hexnode Remote View traffic.
4. Allow-list the required Hexnode Remote View service URLs and ports as per Hexnode’s network requirements documentation.
5. Retest Remote View after the network changes are applied.
If the TV is installed on a managed customer or facility network, the firewall rules may need to be updated by that network’s administrator. Remote View should work once the required endpoints are reachable, but Remote Control will still remain unavailable on Android TV.
