Android Work Profile Outlook links won’t open in ChromeSolved

We have Android BYOD devices enrolled with Android Enterprise Profile Owner mode. Outlook is installed in the Work Profile, and Google Chrome is also supposed to be available there.

When a user taps a link inside an Outlook email, it does not open in Chrome. Outlook shows an error saying there is no app available to open the link. Chrome appears to be installed in the Work Profile, so I’m not sure why Outlook is not detecting it.

Hello @elliot ,

This behavior usually occurs when the browser is not installed or not properly recognized inside the Android Work Profile.

In Profile Owner mode, apps in the personal profile and apps in the Work Profile are treated separately. Outlook in the Work Profile can open links only through apps available and recognized inside that same Work Profile.

If Chrome already appears under the device’s applications, try pushing it again directly from Hexnode UEM:

  1. Go to Manage > Endpoints.
  2. Select the affected Android device.
  3. Open Actions > Applications > Install application.
  4. Select Google Chrome and initiate the installation.
  5. Open the Action History tab and confirm that the installation status changes to Success.
  6. Ask the user to retry opening the link from Outlook.

Reinstalling or repushing Chrome from the console can refresh app recognition inside the Work Profile, allowing Outlook to detect Chrome as an available browser.

After reinstalling Chrome through Hexnode and having the user test again, Outlook links started opening correctly in Chrome. Looks like Chrome was installed but not being properly recognized inside the Work Profile.
