Can Hexnode diagnose iPads overheating, battery drain, and apps crashing?Solved

Apple restricts MDM solutions from running deep hardware-level diagnostics on iOS and iPadOS devices. Hexnode cannot directly check hardware temperature, battery health, battery degradation, or run Apple-style diagnostic tests remotely.

However, you can still use Hexnode UEM to check a few common causes that may lead to app instability:

1. Open the device details page in Hexnode UEM portal and review the Device Summary.
2. Check whether the device storage is nearly or completely full. Low storage can cause apps to crash or behave unpredictably.
3. Verify the installed iPadOS version and confirm whether an OS update is pending.
4. Review whether the issue is limited to specific managed apps or occurs across all apps, including system apps.

If all apps are affected and the device is overheating or draining battery rapidly, it is more likely to be an iPadOS-level or hardware issue rather than an MDM configuration issue.

We saw something similar on older iPads. Devices experienced overheating and battery drain ended up being hardware-related. Once all apps start crashing and the device gets hot even outside kiosk/app restrictions, there usually isn’t much MDM can fix.

In that case, the next step would be to have the devices checked by an authorized service provider or repair center. Hexnode can help identify management-related factors such as storage, OS version, app deployment status, and policy assignment, but it cannot perform thermal monitoring or battery health diagnostics on iPads.
