I need to replace a few android devices that are currently listed in Hexnode. They show up as “Generic android” devices, not Android Enterprise device owner or samsung knox. What is the quickest way to disenroll them and remove them from the device list so I can add new devices?

Hi @annemie,

For Generic Android devices, you can initiate the disenrollment directly from your device inventory list.

Here are the quick steps to do so:

  1. Go to the Manage tab.
  2. Select the Android devices you want to remove using the checkboxes.
  3. Click on Actions and choose Device Control > Disenroll Device.

If the device is currently active and reachable, the disenrollment action will complete immediately, allowing you to quickly replace it. However, if the device is offline or inactive, the action will remain pending until the device checks in again.

Please let me know if you need help with the new enrollments once these are cleared out!

What should be done if the device is not active anymore? Some of our older android devices are already switched off or no longer physically available, so I am assuming the normal “Disenroll Device” action will just stay pending forever.

Hi @penelope,

If the device is completely inactive and the disenrollment action gets stuck in a pending state, you can manually force the disenrollment through your reporting dashboard.

Just navigate to Reports > Devices > Disenrollment Pending Devices. From there, select the required device and use Actions > Mark as Disenrolled. This is the perfect way to clear dead or lost devices from your managed list without waiting for them to come back online!

Please let me know if you have any trouble finding those devices in the pending report.
