Currently using Windows 10, and it’s been a nightmare when it comes to updates. I don’t want updates constantly popping up or restarting my system at random times. Is there any way to completely disable Windows updates?

I’m not sure that’s a good idea. Disabling updates altogether might stop those interruptions, but you’d also miss out on important fixes and patches.
I get what you mean though. I’ve been dealing with it by pausing updates instead. That way I get some control and can install them after testing.
Exactly. That’s what I’m trying to figure out, more control over when things happen. How does Hexnode handle this?
Hi @carter,
Completely disabling updates isn’t something Windows supports natively, and even if you manage to turn them off, the system tends to re-enable them over time.
What you can do instead is shift from disabling updates to controlling how and when they are applied.
With Hexnode, this is handled through two key configurations:
- Windows Update Preferences and Settings: This lets you define how updates behave, such as deferring feature updates, controlling installation timelines, and limiting when updates are downloaded.
- Windows Update Experience: This focuses on the end-user side, where you can control things like restart behavior, notifications, and deadlines, so updates don’t interrupt active usage.
This way, instead of trying to block updates entirely, you ensure they happen on your terms without disrupting productivity.
