Windows Devices losing connection! Outdated Hexnode apps?Solved

Hi everyone,

We manage a fairly large fleet of Windows laptops across our organization. Recently, I’ve noticed that a significant chunk of these devices are dropping off the radar and showing as not connected in the Hexnode portal.

Upon physically checking a few of the affected devices, I realized that the Hexnode Service App installed on them is severely outdated. It seems the older versions are failing to communicate with the server.

Is there any option or script available to force an update for the Hexnode app across all enrolled Windows devices at once? Going around and manually updating the agent on hundreds of laptops isn’t feasible for our team. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect!

I completely understand your concern. Having devices drop off the management radar due to outdated service apps is definitely a headache, especially when you are managing a large enterprise fleet and manual updates are out of the question.

Fortunately, there is a built-in feature designed to handle exactly this so you don’t have to update them one by one. You can configure the portal to automatically and silently update the Hexnode Service App on your Windows devices.

Here is how you can resolve this:

  1. Log in to your Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Navigate to the Admin tab at the top of the dashboard.
  3. Select General Settings from the left-hand menu.
  4. Scroll down to the Hexnode App Updates section.
  5. Check the box to enable Update Hexnode Service App silently on Windows devices.
  6. Click Save at the bottom of the page to apply the configurations.

Once enabled, the server will automatically push the latest version of the Hexnode Service App to your Windows devices in the background without requiring any user intervention.

Let me know if this helps get your fleet back online, or if you run into any other issues!

Best regards,
George
