Hi everyone. I have an App Updates policy applied to our Windows 11 laptops. If I approve app updates under patches, does Hexnode automatically install those updates on the devices, or is there another step needed?

Yes, Hexnode can automatically install those updates on your Windows 11 devices. Hexnode’s App Updates policy for Windows utilizes Microsoft WinGet (the Windows Package Manager) to detect and fetch supported third-party application updates.
Once your policy is applied and you approve an update in the Hexnode console, the Hexnode agent scans the device and installs the approved update automatically. You do not need to manually push anything else. Common examples of apps supported through this method include Google Chrome, Notepad++, and PuTTY.
The important limitation to keep in mind is that this automated workflow only applies to applications that are supported by WinGet. If an app is not supported by WinGet, it will not be updated through this policy. For those unsupported apps, you would need to manage updates through another deployment method, such as deploying a vendor-provided installer or utilizing a separate app deployment workflow.
