Hi all, my Android device which was enrolled in Device Owner mode suddenly reset back to the initial setup screen, and I lost kiosk mode. Oddly, the device is still showing up in the Manage tab. How do I get it back into kiosk mode?

It happened to me once. You need to get back to the QR code enrollment screen. I think you can tap the welcome screen multiple times to trigger it.
Hello everyone,
Since the device has reset back to the initial setup screen, the solution here is to re‑enroll the device.
The simplest way to enroll the device in Device Owner mode is via the QR code method. On the device’s Welcome screen, tap the screen 6 times in the same spot to trigger the QR code scanner. Then, scan the enrollment QR code available in the Hexnode portal. Once the device is connected to Wi-Fi and the work profile is created, grant the Hexnode UEM app the required permissions. This will provision the device in Device Owner mode and restore management.
Once the device is enrolled, reapply the kiosk policy. To avoid duplicate entries in the portal, remove the old device record by disenrolling it and marking it as disenrolled.

Got it. Are there any other ways to re‑enroll if QR code scanning isn’t supported or doesn’t work?
Yes, there are a couple of other supported methods you can use depending on the device and situation:
- DPC Identifier method: If the device doesn’t support QR code scanning at startup, you can follow the setup prompts until you reach the Google Account sign‑in screen. In the email field, enter afw#hexnodemdm. This will prompt installation of the Hexnode for Work app. Once installed, you can authenticate either by entering your Hexnode server name or scanning the enrollment QR code from the portal.
- ADB method: On devices running Android 5.0 or later that don’t support QR codes or the DPC identifier, you can use the ADB command line. This requires connecting the device to a computer via USB, installing the Hexnode for Work app manually, and then running the command to set up the device as Device Owner.
