I had to remote ssh into a mac of an employee working from home to troubleshoot issues with an automation script. There was quite a delay in establishing the connection. Is this expected, or is it an issue with the internet?

Generally, the push notification establishes the connection with the Hexnode agent app in just 30 seconds to launch the terminal. However, if the push notification is not delivered successfully, it will take 1- 5 minutes to launch the terminal remotely through the console. The delay will be resolved with our new Hexnode agent update. We will keep you posted on the progress.
