Windows Hexnode agent update and LAPS admin password shows incorrectSolved

I’m managing a few Windows 11 Pro devices in Hexnode and had two questions/issues come up. First, I was checking the Hexnode agent version on enrolled devices. The latest version I saw was 38.1.0, but I didn’t see an update button next to the Hexnode app. Is there a way to manually update the Windows agent from the portal? Second, I ran into a local admin login issue.

After using the admin password shown under LAPS in Hexnode, Windows kept saying the password was incorrect. A new LAPS password was generated, but that one also failed when I tried logging in. This happened after some local account and password changes, so I’m trying to understand if the agent version or LAPS password sync could be related.

For Windows devices, the Hexnode agent update is deployed automatically by the system. There is no manual update button in the portal to trigger the agent update on demand.

To confirm that automatic updates are enabled, check:

1. Go to Admin > General Settings.

2. Open the Hexnode agent settings section.

3. Make sure automatic agent updates are enabled.

If this option is enabled, enrolled Windows devices will receive the latest supported agent version automatically.

For the LAPS admin password issue, first confirm that you are using the password displayed for the correct local account on the correct device. If the password still appears incorrect, pay close attention to special characters when entering it manually. Characters such as ] and } can be easy to confuse, especially in generated passwords.
