VPP apps visible in Hexnode but cannot be assigned or scheduled for macOS installationSolved

For VPP apps to be assignable and deployable from Hexnode, the Apple Business Manager configuration must be fully synced with the Hexnode portal.

Check the following:

1. Confirm that the Apple VPP token is active in Hexnode: If the token has expired or was recently changed in Apple Business Manager, renew the token in Hexnode and sync it again.
2. Verify that the apps were purchased or added in Apple Business Manager: The apps must be available under the correct ABM location associated with your VPP token.
3. Make sure the apps are assigned to the correct MDM server in Apple Business Manager: If the apps are not assigned to the MDM server linked with Hexnode, they may not sync properly for deployment.
4. After confirming the above, sync the VPP apps in Hexnode again.

Once the token is renewed/synced and the ABM apps are assigned to the correct MDM server, the apps should become available for assignment to groups and scheduled installation.

That makes sense. In my case, the apps were already visible in Hexnode, so I assumed the setup was complete. I didn’t realize they still had to be assigned to the correct MDM server in Apple Business Manager before they could be deployed.

I’ve run into the same thing before. The confusing part is that apps can appear in the console, but deployment options may not work as expected until the VPP token and ABM server assignment are both correct. Re-syncing after fixing the ABM assignment usually clears it up.

After renewing/syncing the VPP token and confirming the apps were assigned to the Hexnode MDM server in Apple Business Manager, I was able to assign the apps to groups and schedule installation on the Macs.
