Samsung XCover UI controls stopped workingSolved

Several Samsung XCover phones managed with Hexnode suddenly started behaving oddly even though no restrictions or Peripheral Settings were changed. Users could not open the recent apps/tabs button, the active call screen was not visible so they could not hang up calls, swipe-down for the quick settings menu was blocked, and the keyboard sometimes stayed stuck on screen until the app was closed. Has anyone seen Android devices lose basic UI controls like this without a policy change?

Hello @amelia ,

This can happen if the policy state on the device does not refresh correctly, especially after a device-side change such as an Android system update or a temporary policy sync issue.

Try refreshing the assigned policy without changing its configuration:

  1. Go to Policies.
  2. Open the policy assigned to the affected devices.
  3. Click Manage > Modify.
  4. Click Save without making changes.
  5. Reboot the affected devices and allow them to sync with Hexnode UEM.

If multiple policies are assigned to the same devices, review all of them. Hexnode applies the most restrictive setting when there are conflicting restrictions, so a restriction in another assigned policy can also affect recent apps, notification shade access, and other UI controls.
