Clear App Data action not showing app selection popup for Android device groupSolved

Hi everyone. I’m trying to use the Clear App Data remote action on a specific group of our Android tablets. The action works perfectly when I run it on an individual tablet’s summary page, but when I try to initiate it directly from the device group level, I don’t get the popup window to actually choose the app.

Is there a different way or a specific workflow to clear app data for multiple Android devices at once without doing it one by one?

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

For Android devices, the Clear App Data remote action can absolutely be pushed to multiple devices at once. However, to trigger the app selection prompt correctly for a bulk action, it must be initiated after actively selecting the target devices from within a list, rather than applying it to the group container as a whole.

Here is the exact workflow to clear app data in bulk:

  1. Navigate to Manage > Device Groups and open the specific device group containing your Android tablets.
  2. Under the Devices sub-tab, select the checkboxes next to the required devices (or use the select-all checkbox at the top).
  3. Click the Actions dropdown menu located at the top of the list.
  4. Navigate to Applications > Clear App Data.
  5. The prompt will now appear. Search for and select the required application from the list.
  6. Click Confirm to push the wipe command to all selected tablets.

If you attempt to trigger the action without bulk-selecting the individual devices first, the portal cannot dynamically load the shared app list, which is why the selection prompt fails to appear. By selecting the devices first, the portal can cross-reference the installed apps and allow you to push the command simultaneously.

I hope this helps. If you find any more issues or need further assistance feel free to reach out.
