Hello @melora ,
Yes. The error “PurchaseMethod must be 1” usually indicates that the app is being deployed as a managed App Store app, but the required Apple Volume Purchase Program license is not available in Hexnode.
For App Store apps deployed to macOS through Hexnode UEM, the app must be acquired through Apple Business/School Manager, even if the app is free.
To resolve this:
- Sign in to Apple Business/School Manager.
- Go to Apps & Services > Apps and Books.
- Search for Windows App for Mac.
- Select the appropriate location, enter the number of licenses required, and click Get.
- In Hexnode UEM, go to Admin > Apple Business/School Manager > Apple VPP.
- Click Sync for the configured VPP account.
- After the sync completes, verify that the Windows App appears in Hexnode with the license type shown as VPP.
- Reassociate the Required Apps policy or run the Scan device action on the affected macOS device. This forces the device to check in with Hexnode UEM and receive the updated app deployment command. You can also deploy the app using the Install application action if needed.
Once the VPP license is available in Hexnode UEM, the installation should proceed without the PurchaseMethod error.

Simon Scott
