Kiosk device actions cancelled with “Action re-initiated” errorSolved

Hi everyone. I’m trying to push updates and actions to a device that is currently in Kiosk mode, but every action is getting cancelled or rejected. When I open the action details, the error shown is “Action re-initiated”.

Has anyone seen this before? I’m not sure if this is related to Kiosk mode or if there is something else going on.

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

The Action re-initiated status typically appears when Hexnode attempts to send a command again, but the device is completely unavailable to receive it. This is almost always a connectivity issue rather than a problem caused by Kiosk mode itself.

If all commands are failing together, the device is likely offline. Here is how you can verify and resolve this:

  1. Open the device details page in your Hexnode portal.
  2. Check the device’s last check-in time. If it has not checked in recently (e.g., several days ago), the device does not have a working internet connection.
  3. Verify that the device has active Wi-Fi or cellular data connectivity. (Note: A very common culprit for remote kiosk devices is an inactive or expired cellular data plan).
  4. Once local connectivity is restored and the data plan is active, wait for the device to check in with the portal again.

Once the device reconnects to the network, any queued actions will process normally and stop getting cancelled.

I hope this helps get your device back online! If you find any more issues or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.

Best regards,
George,
