I need to unenroll a few Android devices from Hexnode, but I don’t want the apps installed through the Required Apps policy to be removed. These devices don’t use personal Google accounts. Is there a way to disenroll them while keeping the installed apps on the device?

Hi @im_jaymes,

For Android Enterprise – Device Owner devices, apps deployed through a Required Apps policy can be retained after disenrollment if the policy is configured correctly before removing management.

In the Required Apps policy, disable the option: “Remove apps from the device on policy removal”. After unchecking this option, save the policy and ensure the updated policy is applied to the device before disenrolling it. Once this is done, the required apps should remain installed on Android Enterprise – Device Owner devices even after they are removed from Hexnode management.

This behavior depends on the enrollment type. If the device is enrolled using a container-based Android Enterprise mode, such as Work Profile, disenrollment removes the work container and the apps inside that container cannot be retained.
