One of our managed iPhones may have been lost or stolen. I tried using Hexnode to lock it and enable Lost Mode, but I’m confused by the action statuses. Lock Device showed success at one point, while Scan Device and Lost Mode are still pending. Can Hexnode locate the device through the carrier signal, or force it to connect so the pending commands go through?

Hexnode UEM cannot track an iOS device directly through carrier signals. Network-level tracking is controlled by the mobile service provider, not by MDM.
For a managed iOS device, the recommended actions are:
- Go to Manage > Devices and select the lost device.
- Use Actions > Security > Lock device to lock the device remotely.
- Use Actions > Security > Enable lost mode to lock the device, display a custom message or contact number, and report location to Hexnode UEM once the command is received by the device.
- Check the Action History to confirm whether each command is Success, Pending, or Failed.
If Lock Device shows Success, the device has received that command and is locked. If Scan Device or Lost Mode shows Pending, the device is currently unreachable, usually because it is offline or not connected to Wi-Fi/cellular data. Pending MDM commands will execute automatically when the device reconnects to the internet.

We ran into this once with a misplaced iPhone. Hexnode commands stayed pending until the phone connected to a network again. In the meantime, Apple Find My was the only thing that showed us a last known location.
