How to resolve conflicts when multiple policies are assigned??Solved

Hi everyone,

I’m layering security on our tablets and ended up assigning two different policies to the same group: a “General Restrictions” policy and a “Web Kiosk” policy.

Does one of these take priority over the other, or do they both apply? I’m concerned about what happens if I have conflicting settings in each one.

Hi there! The short answer is: both policies apply simultaneously. Hexnode doesn’t “overwrite” an old policy with a new one; instead, it blends them together using two main logic rules:

  • Additive Behavior: If the policies manage different things (e.g., one sets Wi-Fi and the other sets a Wallpaper), the device simply receives both settings.

  • The “Most Restrictive Wins” Rule: If there is a conflict (e.g., Policy A allows the Camera but Policy B disables it), Hexnode defaults to the most restrictive setting to keep the device secure.

That clears it up perfectly. Thank you!
